March 27th, 2019 I started the raised gardens at the back of our new house. I wanted to share with you where they are now.
This year there are 4 beds. One has potatoes, strawberries, and onions. The second bed has flowers, peas, and corn. The last two beds have tomatoes and cucumbers.
I started by screwing together plastic boards. I wanted to create a walkway with some stones I found in the yard but I am not sure about that yet. Since I have to use the weed wacker around the sides I can use it in the center also. That is a work in progress.
Then I filled it with dirt and straw from around the yard, then topped it with soil from the garden center. In the process, I broke the wheel barrel, so I need to get a new wheel.
Last year I doubled the size of my garden and this year I did again. I added some drip irrigation but did not need to use it much yet with all the rain we have been getting.
I added the tomato and cucumber supports today and we will see how they work. I have been enjoying working on the garden. This winter I was thinking about what I was going to do, and how I am actually getting to try out my plan. I hope you enjoy this post and it inspires you to grow something.
